How to Prepare for Your Headshot Session: Tips and Tricks

Hi Ladies! I'm Patty Wells, and I'm here to give you some tips and tricks on how to prepare for your heads-hot session. Whether it's for your website, social media profiles, or business cards, a great headshot can make all the difference in how you're perceived by potential clients. So, let's dive in!

  1. Do your research Before booking a photographer, do some research and look at their portfolio to make sure their style aligns with what you're looking for. You want to make sure they're capable of capturing your personality and brand in a way that represents you authentically (Pro-tip: If you're not sure where to start, ask for recommendations from friends and colleagues!)

  2. Choose your outfit wisely Your outfit can play a big role in how your headshots turn out, so choose wisely! Unless they are part of your signature look, avoid busy patterns and loud colors that can be distracting. Stick to solid, neutral colors that complement your skin tone and hair color. (Pro-tip: Bring a few different options to the shoot, just in case!)

  3. Get your hair and makeup done You want to look your best for your headshot session, so consider getting your hair and makeup done professionally. This will not only make you look great but also boost your confidence, which will come through in the photos. (Pro-tip: If you're doing your own makeup, keep it natural and avoid heavy contouring or bold lipstick.)

  4. Practice your poses It's normal to feel a little awkward in front of the camera, but practicing your poses beforehand can help you feel more confident and comfortable. Try standing up straight, relaxing your shoulders, and tilting your chin slightly down. And don't forget to smile! (Pro-tip: Take some practice shots at home using your phone's camera.)

  5. Relax and have fun Lastly, remember to relax and have fun during your headshot session! The more relaxed you are, the better your photos will turn out. So, take a deep breath, listen to some music, and enjoy the experience. (Pro-tip: Bring a friend or colleague along for support and to make the experience even more fun!)

That's it, ladies! I hope these tips and tricks help you prepare for your upcoming headshot session. Remember, a great headshot can make all the difference in how potential clients perceive you, so take the time to prepare and make it count.
